Chasinng the Legends

Wow... It's been 6 days since I posted the last one.

Well I finally got my hair trimmed after procrastinating for more than a month. Now it's so much lighter and I see more of my natural wavy hair. I'm still considering whether I should straighten it when August comes. I'll see how my long natural hair looks like then. I have a theory that my longer wavy hair will weigh the hair down and eventually making it look less wavy. I hope that that theory is right.

I have advanced a lot on my jazz piano assignment. I practised some Scott Joplin tunes. The Magnetic Rag is a little difficult when it modulates to the minor key. I hope to master it asap. Jelly Roll Morton tunes are not coming so well. I find my ears adjusting to the difference in harmonics in comparison to the Scott Joplin ones. @_@ I'm not even sure what I play is even tuneful since there accidentals all over the place. Makes me wonder whether what I play is right. I'm a little nervous about venturing further than that when it comes to practical because James Johnson's songs are not easy either.

No matter how difficult it is to play, I still have to continue listening and do further reading one the subjects I study. I'm also trying to do parallel studies on whatever I'm researching the books that I have, namely the 'Jazz' book that Pa ordered for me two months ago. The book is a good read and guide on jazz and I took the trouble to look up the songs in the 'listening guide' section in youtube. Once I find the right song, I record it for future reference.

The jazz studies are coming a long well but not as fast as I hoped for. I hope to finish more as I don't want to stay too long around the same subjects.
